Sixth Form Head of Year (Non-Teaching)

We are seeking a new non teaching Head of Year for our Sixth Form. For more information, please find the attachment below. 

Job Details

Job Title:       Sixth Form Head of Year (Non-teaching)

Reports to:     Head of Sixth Form

Salary Range: H6

Hours:             40

Weeks:           Term time only + 5 days

Date:              September 2018  

 

Key Responsibilities – (there is no teaching commitment)

  • To work and communicate closely with the Director of Sixth Form in all Sixth Form matters
  • To work with the senior administrator, to be operationally responsible for the day-to-day management of the Sixth Form and the Sixth Form centre
  • Provide thoughtful and effective leadership of form tutors to maximise their roles and best interests of the pupils
  • Ensuring good attendance (95%+) and punctuality
  • Ensuring exemplary behaviour in Sixth Form
  • Maintaining high expectations in line with the school code of conduct
  • To encourage pupils to contribute positively to the life of Sixth Form and wider life of the school
  • To be responsible for the Head Boy/Girl and School Prefects and their roles within the school.
  • To work with the senior administrator and academic mentor to oversee the use of the Sixth Form centre promoting a secure, stimulating and friendly working environment for all students and staff.
  • To deal with routine student absence, lateness and disciplinary matters
  • To be a positive role model to students, parents and colleagues by maintaining a calm and level headed approach to behaviour management
  • To establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with parents and students

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant              

Reports to: SENCO

Salary Range: H3 term time only (pro-rata)

Hours: 32.5

Date: September 2018

 

Principal Duties and accountabilities

To be accountable for;

* Helping the students to access the content of lessons and to respond to tasks given.

* Contributing to curriculum differentiation which takes into account student’s

needs and difficulties.

* Helping to promote the development of student’s literacy and numeracy skills so that he can achieve his potential in both.

* Monitoring & develop student’s attention, listening and concentration skills.

* Monitoring Student’s social communication and interaction and to implement actions that will promote positive development in these and integration with his peers.

* Helping the student to develop his verbal comprehension, extend his expressive language and clarity of speech.

* Promoting the development of student’s fine and gross motor skills.

* Promoting and support group work and both structured & unstructured activities that will provide opportunities for the student to develop the above skills & to experience & recognise success.

* Assisting in the planning and implementation of student’s individual education plan.

* Monitoring and attend to student’s behavioural and emotional needs and to promote his wellbeing, self-awareness and independence
