The Faculty are an enthusiastic, friendly and supportive team, committed to helping all students achieve their full potential. Team members are highly motivated teachers who have a passion for the subject they teach – which is infectious to the students. Students are provided with extremely targeted revision and highly effective homework material to support their independent study.

Staff design lessons to incorporate written work, investigations and discussions as well as a range of ICT based, practical, problem solving and functional activities to ensure that students enjoy a rich educational experience.

The Science block consists of seven laboratories each of which are fully equipped with a range of ICT resources such as interactive whiteboards and projectors enabling staff to teach engaging lessons and students to learn to their full potential. In addition, we offer a science computer room to meet all ICT needs.

The Science Curriculum

Science is available as a subject in KS3, KS4 and KS5.

In Science, our units of work focus on developing student curiosity about the world around them. It offers opportunities to find explanations and engage learners at many levels. Experimentation and modelling are used to develop and evaluate explanations, encouraging critical and creative thought.

Students are engaged in science by carrying out a range of practical investigations with supporting theory, with topics purposefully chosen to ensure this.

The preparation for GCSE examinations begins in either year 9 or 10.  The examination board used is OCR 21st century. We cover Double Science which cover all areas of Science and is worth two GCSEs.

We also offer Triple Science as an option for those interested in a career in Science.
